These light touch, low energy, low carbon new builds are located in the village of Styal within the North Cheshire Green Belt and replace a dilapidated dwelling which fell into disrepair on the site.

Brick and slate are the materials used in the construction of the dwellings with traditional brick diapering details. The character and modelling of the homes have been considered with features such as the front bay to the study, the chimney and dormer window as well as a well recessed entrance.

Each of the properties consists of open plan ground floor living accommodation that has a strong connection to the new landscaped garden spaces. Views and vistas are provided into the landscaping that wraps around each property with physical access into the garden spaces from the kitchen, living and laundry rooms creating the feeling of indoor – outdoor living.

An overriding driver through the evolution of the design was to have a limited and natural palette of materials that would blend with the landscaping and with the vernacular in its wider context.
