A proposal for a replacement dwelling in Wilmslow, Cheshire. We have proposed a modern day family home which optimizes the stunning views of the surrounding landscape. With a broad selection of materials in local use and the lack of a distinct architectural style we were given the opportunity to design a contemporary architectural statement, in a spectacular site.
A series of interconnected courtyards linked by an internal corridor flood light into the deep plan. Excellent views to the surrounding hills are framed with full height glazing throughout, with a break in the external walls framing views of the landscape upon arrival.
A large site model showing the local context was used in conjunction with card models, a useful design tool and to help communicate the relationship between the building and its site.
