3000sqft of new space including a leisure suite with pool and spa facilities, meditation room, kitchen, snug and two new guest bedrooms with ensuites. The extension was designed to sit in the landscape, using horizontal planes and a trailing green roof that overhangs a raised outdoor boardwalk. A glass link with views out onto the roofscape connects the new spaces to the first floor of the existing house. The existing house was designed by Reid Architects, and has been awarded by Macclesfield Borough Council in recognition of design excellence. This project was a great opportunity for ATA to add a second phase addition to the property which would compliment the existing outstanding Architecture.
The indoor pool, finished with pale limestone, features an exposed concrete ceiling with cut-outs in the structure forming angular rooflights. A timber walkway flush with the surface of the water follows the perimeter of the pool, leading through a shadowy corridor to the sauna and steam room which connect the outdoor space by full height glazing.
